Today is some sort of holiday. Quite honestly, I don’t keep track. It’s not that there are a lot of them but they usually are something I will forget about in less than a year.
Here, an official holiday means schools, government offices, banks and such are closed but, in general, all the businesses are open. Here are the responses of my daughter’s school and my two full-time employees to this holiday.
- One of my employees, actually the first person to make me aware of the holiday asked if he could take Tuesday off and work on the holiday.
- My daughter’s school decided it would be “better” to hold classes on Thursday and then take Friday off.
- My other employee asked if he could work Thursday and take Friday off.
What impressed me the most was that with no government overhead, the day off got adjusted to offer what was needed by everyone.
